North Dakota House Majority Leader Al Carlson lost his bid for re-election, coming in fourth among four candidates for two seats in District 47.

The top two vote-getters were Republican Michelle Strinden and Democrat Pamela Anderson, who were separated by a single vote in unofficial results posted on the Secretary of State's website. Strinden garnered 3,361 votes and Anderson followed with 3,360 votes.

Democrat Brandon Medenwald trailed in third place with 2,775 votes followed by Carlson with 2,699 votes.
