Bite Squad, an online and mobile food ordering and restaurant delivery service, started operations in Bismarck this weekend.
Bite Squad delivers from more than 20 area restaurants, including Scotty’s Drive In, Blarney Stone, Darrell’s Brew n Que and Schlotzky’s.
Delivery is available within 7 miles of a participating restaurant, according to a statement by the company. The service operates 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
Company spokeswoman Liz Sniegocki said the company has about 20 to 30 drivers.
“I expect that will double in the next six months. It's likely we'd employ about 100 drivers within a year of opening,” she said.
Minneapolis-based Bite Squad is the third restaurant delivery service to enter Bismarck-Mandan, behind Food Dudes and Uber Eats.
Pet facility open north of Bismarck
Bed N Biscuit Ranch, a pet boarding, grooming and training facility, has begun operations a 8700 80th St N.E.
Manager Ashley Kuntz said the owners “saw the need for another high-quality boarding facility” in the area after their own pet boarding experiences.
“They always fill up for the holidays,” Kuntz said of current facilities.
With 13 indoor/outdoor dog runs, 12 large indoor runs, five small indoor runs and six cat condos, Bed N Biscuit Ranch is another option.
Kuntz said, in designing the facility, the owners traveled to a national conference and visited other boarders for tips. As a result, there are solid dividers between kennels to keep dogs calm and the cat room is insulated to drown out the noise from the dogs. There's also a fresh air exchange, which Kuntz said reduces smell and reduces the risk of "kennel cough."
Training offered at Bed N Biscuit Ranch focuses on "creating the ideal family pet," with basic to advanced obedience and puppy classes.
Full grooming services are offered, as well as some more unique services, such as nail painting and chalk hair dye.
"We’ve got everything covered," she said, and the groomer has 14 years of experience.
Located on 40 acres, Kuntz said the owners hope to eventually add a private dog park and trails.
"With the community moving north ... there's just not a lot for the people on the edges of Bismarck," she said.
The groomer takes walk-ins Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All other services are by appointment, with set pickup and drop off hours for boarding.
Wine bar, Italian deli open
Anima Cucina in downtown Bismarck celebrated its grand opening this past week.
The eatery at 101 N. Fifth St. offers wine and beer alongside smoked meats, cheeses and other Italian entrees. It also houses a coffee shop and bakery, owner Kenny Howard said.
Howard said efforts continue to build out the menu with handmade pastas and vegan options. Catering also is offered.
Coffee shop and breakfast hours start at 7 a.m. during the week and 8 a.m. Saturday. Around 11 a.m., the deli and other entrees can be ordered. The restaurant stays open until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
