Jimmy Adams started dancing as a way to socialize. He recently started Simply Dance and DJ, offering country dance lessons, wanting to provide that opportunity to others.
“My goal is to give the people in this area a chance to learn and improve the dances they enjoy on a regular basis,” he said.
Adams has been into country dancing for about 30 years and ballroom dancing for about 10. He teaches dance classes at Bismarck State College and has started renting the dance room at the Mandan Eagles on Mondays.
At each event, Adams offers an hour of lessons and an hour of open dance. The cost is $5.
“My goal is to continue this and teach a different couples' dance each month,” he said, with two-step and line dancing this month, East Coast swing in July and waltz in August. “As time goes on, I want to include ballroom dances.”
A schedule of lessons is posted on Adams’ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/simplydanceanddj/.
In addition to the lessons, Adams provides DJ services for small and medium-sized events and venues.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The brewpub slated to open in the Bismarck Depot posted on its Facebook page that it's hiring cooks, servers and bartenders.
