Lumber company expands to Bismarck

Fargo-based Dakota Timber Co., has opened a Bismarck location.

"On a weekly basis, we have customers in our Fargo showroom visiting from Bismarck begging us to open a store in Bismarck. We also have been shipping to Bismarck a few times a week, so we thought, 'Why not just be there?' " founder Seth Carlson said.

The 1,400-square-foot retail store is at 3007 Morrison Ave.

The company, which calls itself the state's "largest urban lumber and reclaimed wood producer," sources from reclaimed wood and milling lumber from local boulevard trees.

The Bismarck location is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The store is stocked with reclaimed lumber, reclaimed mantels and shelves, live edge slabs, paneling and flooring.

"It is a bit more of a simplified selection at Bismarck; however, we still can take those custom requests for odd wood components," Carlson said of the ability to manufacture the items in Fargo and deliver them to Bismarck within one to three weeks.

Dance studio opens new location

Let’s Dance has moved into its newly built studio located at North 19th Street, behind North Walmart.

The new space has bigger studios to hold the more than 50 classes offered, including ballet, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, tap, mom and baby and tumbling.

Let’s Dance was formerly located on West Interstate Avenue and, in 2019, will celebrate its 30th anniversary operating in Bismarck. Owner Jenny Samuelson started the business with 11 students in her parents' basement. The studio now has more than 500 students.

“It’s amazing to have worked with all the talent that have come through our doors and see where their dreams take them in life. We are now teaching children of the children that first began in that basement. Our dance company is one big family — now in more than one family and generation,” Samuelson said in a statement.

Farmers market moves
