TRIVIA ANSWER

During the Class B girls basketball state tournament's initial 10-year run (1951 through 1960), Gardner won the most state titles with three (1955, 1956 and 1958). Wheatland claimed two titles (1951 and 1952)

PLAYBACK

10 YEARS AGO (2009): The Bismarck Blizzard, who had advanced with late-game heroics in two games, weren't able to retain the magic in the championship game of the state hockey tournament. Lauren Kringstad scored with 13.4 seconds left to play, but the Blizzard fell 2-1 to Fargo North in the girls finale at Grand Forks.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Thai Goecke scored 22 points, including the biggest ones of the game to lead the University of Mary to a 67-62 road victory over Jamestown College. The victory propelled the Marauders to the NDCAC women's basketball tournament championship and put them in the NAIA Division II national tournament. Keri Bakker scored 10 points for Jamestown, which never trailed by more than eight points.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Mandan knew it had to stop Bottineau scoring ace Mark Refling, but they didn't count on Jim Dew's heroics. Dew, a 6-foot senior forward, drilled in 30 points and Bottineau crushed the Braves 78-51. Ron Just was the scoring leader for host Mandan with 19 points.
