PLAYBACK

10 YEARS AGO (2009): The University of Mary women's cross country team has made program history. The Marauders cracked into the Central Region rankings for the first time since the school moved to the NCAA. U-Mary was ranked ninth in the regional poll. The U-Mary team consists of three juniors and five freshmen.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): St. Mary's didn't get the upset it wanted, but the Saints took Bismarck into the final minute before losing 56-49 on the road in West Region girls basketball. Natalie Brunner scored 20 points for BHS, now 8-1 on the year. The Saints, 3-6, got 15 points from Courtney Jacobson and 12 from Kristi Vetter.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): North Dakota State built a 21-0 lead and held on for a 28-14 college football victory over Northern Michigan at Marquette, Mich. It was the 20th straight regular-season win for the Bison and the 50th victory in the last 54 games. Halfback Tim Mjos scored two Bison touchdowns and fullback Joe Roller led a 339-yard NDSU ground game with 128 rushing yards.

TRIVIA ANSWER

Right-hander Jim Bunning was the first pitcher to represent both leagues in the All-Star baseball game. While with the Detroit Tigers, Bunning pitched for the American League in 1957, 1959, 1961, 1962 and 1963. While with the Philadelphia Phillies, he took the hill for the National League in 1964 and 1966.
