PLAYBACK

10 YEARS AGO (2009): Matt Brendel has been racing in the hobby stocks class at Dacotah Speedway since 2001, and has yet to win a points championship. The Bismarck driver took a big step toward accomplishing that goal, posting his third feature victory of the season and extending his lead over runner-up Scott Gartner of Bismarck.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Rhame scored 17 of the game's final 19 points to defeat Bottineau 72-56 for the championship in the lower division of the boys high school basketball tournament in the Prairie Rose State Games. The game was played at Bismarck High School. Eleven of those 17 points belonged to Justin Fischer, who tallied 31 points in the second half alone. Rhame defeated St. Michael and Walhalla to reach the championship game.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Carson made short work of New Leipzig, posting a 12-1 American Legion baseball victory. Wayne Huber got the pitching win for the hosts, holding New Leipzig to three hits. Dean Hochhalter absorbed the loss.

TRIVIA ANSWER

Camilo Pascual was the first Twins pitcher to make an All-Star Game appearance. He pitched three scoreless innings in the second 1961 game. The game ended in a 1-1 tie at Fenway Park in Boston.
