PLAYBACK

10 YEARS AGO (2009): Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini says offensive lineman Brent Qvale will be sidelined for three to four months with a shoulder injury suffered in preseason practice. Qvale, a 6-foot-7, 330-pound freshman from Williston, had earned praise from the Cornhusker coaching staff for his work in early practices.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): Twenty-five golfers broke par in the first round of the Prairie West Pro-Am golf tournament in Mandan. None broke it by a larger margin than Craig Galles of Casper, Wyo., and Paul Wackerly of Canton, Ohio. Both shot blistering seven-under par 65s to share the lead after the first round of the 36-hole Dakotas Tour mini-stop.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Larry Mollins stole home in the ninth inning to provide Fargo's Emery Johnson with a 3-2 win over Fordville in the overall championship game of the state amateur baseball tournament in Jamestown. Emery Johnson earlier won the state AA championship and Fordville prevailed in Class A. Mollins was earlier knocked unconscious when hit by a pitch in the AA championship game with Mayville, an 8-3 Emery Johnson victory.
