PLAYBACK

10 YEARS AGO (2008): Anna Skala and Sonny Schulz netted 16 points apiece to lead the University of Mary past Colorado Mines 78-61 in women's college basketball. Guard Kayla Rogers scored 13 points, most of them on three 3-pointers. The game was the Marauders' home opener.

20 YEARS AGO (1998):  Bismarck scored on a Steve Duleh rebound goal with just eight seconds expired and went on to a 6-2 season-opening victory over Bottineau at the VFW All Seasons Arena. Five different Demons scored, with Mike Laschen picking up two goals. BHS built a 57-12 advantage in shots on net.

50 YEARS AGO (1968): North Dakota State's basketball squad has taken one step back, even before the opening tipoff. Scott Howe, a 6-foot-5 sophomore from Mandan, has undergone knee surgery. Howe, a leading candidate at forward for the Bison, was injured in a sprint drill. He is expected to be out of the lineup for an extended period, possibly for the entire season.
