Elijah Klein— Boys basketball
Elijah had a great finish to the end of his sophomore basketball season. He helped the Braves to a 4-2 finish in the WDA tournament and state tournament and was a huge reason why the Braves qualified for the state tournament and finished third. Elijah had a great month of March on the floor. Elijah made 40 of 59 field goals for an impressive 67.8 percent. Elijah also shot very well from the free-throw line, making 28 for 39 for 71.8 percent. He was second on the team in scoring, averaging 18 points per game. He also led the team in both total rebounds (9.2 per game) and offensive rebounds (2.8 per game). Elijah also had 12 assists, four blocked shots and five steals in the month. In the six March tournament games, Elijah recorded three double-doubles in points and rebounds. Elijah’s biggest game of the month was the state qualifying game against Minot, where he had a huge 28 points and 14 rebounds en route to knocking off the three-time defending champions and helping the Braves qualify for the state tournament for the first time since 2012-13. We are excited for Elijah to continue to get better and help the Braves win for the next two seasons. I am very proud to nominate Elijah Klein for the March athlete of the month as he is very deserving of the award.
