Mandan student writes winning essay
Ian Lahtinen, a third-grade student at Fort Lincoln Elementary School, Mandan, wrote a winning essay for the North Dakota League of Cities’ If I Were Mayor essay contest.
The contest encourages young people to think about public service and future community leadership. Winners receive a $150 cash prize and have their essay featured in the League’s publication, CITYScan.
Farmers Union agents get awards
Mandan agents have earned Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Agent of the Year awards.
Dave Berger earned the Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Agent of the Year.
Phil Halvorson received the Financial Products Agent of the Year.
Dave Murphy earned the Premier Agency Farmers Union Mutual Insurance District of the Year.
The awards were presented during a statewide convention in May.
Kupper workers given GM recognition
Keith Feist, Jason Knudson, Erik Olson, Justin Rambur, Jason Ronsberg, Rodney Sandvig and Gene Van Lishout, employees at Kupper Chevrolet, Mandan, have received General Motor’s Mark of Excellence awards.
The awards recognize commitment to excellence, achieving sales objectives and maintaining superior CSI scores.
Miller Pointe receives $10,000 grant
Miller Pointe-a Prospera Community, Mandan, has received $10,000 from the Frank L. Wedge Memorial Fund, a grant for North Dakota Long Term Care Association facilities to improve the well-being of their residents and employees.
Miller Pointe received the maximum amount for the grant, which it plans to use to purchase a new walkie talkie system to improve communications throughout the building.
