Cheerleading awards

The Century High School cheerleaders earned several awards while attending a three-day National Cheerleaders Association Cheer Camp on the Bismarck State College campus:

• Bid to Nationals. Awarded for exemplifying positive qualities as a team.

• Stunt S.A.F.E Certificate for excellent technique in safety, spotting and stunting.

• Superior Ribbons for strong technique in leading the crowd well and performing with no noticeable mistakes. Century earned two for cheers and two for chants.

• Spirit Stick. Awarded to teams that show the most sincere spirit and enthusiasm for the day.

• Performance Top Team First Place. For exemplifying the best cheerleading technique, skill, incorporation and performance ability. Teams that win this award have the opportunity to travel on to NCA special events.

• Game Time JV Division. For exemplifying the best cheerleading technique in leading the crowd, technical skills and incorporation. Teams that win this award have the opportunity to travel on to NCA special events.

• America Needs Cheerleaders Pin for genuine kindness and spirit. Awarded to Isabel Hanson and Lisa Garner.

• All American Nominees, based on superior techniques in jumps, stunts, dance, motions, tumbling or leadership. Nominees can try out for the NCA All American Team. CHS nominees are Alexa Gonzalez, Grace Poolman, Lauryn Hinkley, Whitney Klimpel, Hanson, Danielle Feser, Sarah Bosch, Leah Bandy, Paige Voegele and Jurny Summers.

• All American Team of individuals who exemplify the best cheerleading skills during the NCA All American team tryout. These individuals qualify for an NCA special event. CHS cheerleaders who made the All American Team are Gonzalez and Hanson.

Other CHS cheerleaders who attended camp are Ashley Jones, Annika Hendrickson, Ella Helm, Hailey Helm, Kira Gruber, Hallie Gabel, Mercedez Rosario, Kylee Steinert, Soleil Hager, Kenna Grunseth, Kailynn Martinez, Kathy Brown, Hannah Belisle, Ieree Lundin, Becca Thull, Mea Berger and Jaymee Lang. Coaches for the CHS cheerleaders are Tammy Duursma, Megan Hardy and Meagan Behm.
