Alicia Beck, a native of Bismarck, was among 15 members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater tennis programs named 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes. She has earned the accolade twice.
Beck is a senior majoring in physical education.
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, student-athletes must have been a varsity letter winner, maintained a grade-point average of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year and been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above.
Austin Teunissen, Bismarck, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in May with a bachelor of science degree in web and digital media development.
Taylor Helgeson, who graduated from Bismarck High School and is a student at the University of Jamestown, has received one of three scholarships awarded by Starion Bank to employees’ children.
Helgeson, daughter of Christian and Trish Helgeson, Bismarck, is majoring in accounting.
Trish Helgeson is marketing and communications manager/vice president and works at the Mandan branch.
John Atnip, of Minot, has been named to the spring President's List for academic achievement at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro.
To be eligible, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade-point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Mayville State list
Several students from Bismarck are among those listed on the spring semester Dean’s List at Mayville State University.
They are Susan Brady, Kelsie De Jesus, Jennifer Eggert, Melissa McClintock and Mason Przybilla.
Students named to the Dean's List have attained a grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have successfully completed a minimum of 12 graded credit hours of regular academic credit from Mayville State.
Postovit to tour
Williston State College student Shawn Postovit has been named to the Northern Ambassadors of Music and selected to participate in a music performance tour of Europe next year.
Nominated by Ella Lewis, a band and choir director at Tioga, Postovit joins the select honor group of students from North Dakota and Montana.
From July 9 to July 24, 2019, Postovit and his fellow ambassadors will visit England, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy and Germany. The tour includes a concert band, concert choir, and a jazz ensemble.
Originally from Tioga, Postovit is a tenor and plays the French horn.
