The Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is offering a $500 scholarship for the 2019-20 school year to female graduates of Mandan High School who are majoring in a field of education and will be enrolling in their junior or senior year of college this fall.
Applications are available at the MHS counseling office and at college education departments. Application deadline is April 7.
The North Dakota Community Foundation will host the 52nd annual North Dakota Picnic at Red Mountain Park in Mesa, Ariz., on March 3.
The event is a gathering of anyone with North Dakota ties living either permanently or part-time in Arizona. Last year’s picnic drew an estimated 2,000 people.
The event will be held 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Red Mountain Park, 7745 E. Brown Road, Mesa. It will feature oldies music by the band Spotlight, classic cars on display and a variety of food trucks and vendor booths. The cost to attend the picnic is $5 per person, payable online at www.NDCF.net/Picnic or at the registration table on the day of the event.

Mark Hovland, general manager at Fessenden Cooperative Association, Fessenden, has been elected president of the North Dakota Grain Dealers Association.
Jeremy Burkhart, multi-commodity and project manager at CHS-SunPrairie, Minot, was elected first vice president.
Dan Mostad, general manager at Berthold Farmers Elevator, Berthold, was newly elected to the board.
Schauer adds role
Christopher Schauer, director of North Dakota State University's Hettinger Research Extension Center, has agreed to serve as interim director of the Dickinson Research Extension Center as well.
Kris Ringwall was the DREC's director from 1992 to November 2018, when he became director of the Livestock and Forage Center of Excellence at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.
The Hettinger and Dickinson centers are part of the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station.
