Ordination service held at Bismarck Public Library

Karen Van Fossan was ordained into the Unitarian Universalist Ministry at 1 p.m. Jan. 20 in the large meeting room at Bismarck Public Library. She will serve as minister of the Bismarck-Mandan Unitarian Universalist Fellowship & Church.

Participants in the ordination service included the Rev. Laura Smidzik of Minneapolis, the Rev. Ian Evison from MidAmerica Region of the UUA, Johnnie Aseron, Jeff Iron Cloud, Sandra Bercier, Tim Mathern, Aruna and Vinod Seth, Randy and David Van Fossan, Kathy and Carl Boyens, Betty Mills and Joyce Conrad, Peter Huff, Michaela Alexander, Liz Loos, Rita Kelly, Andrea Ficek Falcon, Liz Anderson, Charles Bashale, Karen Larrivee, Jeremiah Veach and Gus Rohwer.

Van Fossan was presented with a handmade Star Quilt, complete with an explanation of its importance.

Following the ordination, a reception was held in the Rev. Van Fossan’s honor at the Bismarck-Mandan UU Fellowship and Church.

Two Christian Women’s Club meeting dates set

Delores Langseth, of Harvey, will be the speaker for the two Christian Women’s Clubs meeting on Feb. 8.  Her theme is “From Darkness to Light.”  She is a former teacher and loves reading and gardening.

The 9:30 a.m. Brunch Group meets at the Bismarck Eagles Club, 313 N. 26th St. Theme is “Light of Love.” Music is by Ernie and Kris Hockett, of Bismarck. Cost is $8. Make reservations by noon Monday by calling 258-3397.

The 12:30 p.m. Midday Connection will meet at the Municipal Country Club, 930 N. Griffin St. Theme is “Healthy Hearts.” Ruth Schaffer, a fitness and wellness coach, will present tips for staying healthy for the New Year. Cost is $10. Call 701-751-2869 for reservations by Monday.

The 6 p.m. After 5 CWC Evening Group will not meet during February and March. The Christian Women’s groups are affiliated with Stonecroft.

Living Waters Fellowship launches new services

Living Waters Fellowship, 1996 43rd St., will offer services at 10 a.m. Saturdays beginning Feb. 10. The pastor, affiliated with World Evangelism Fellowship, offers a similar doctrine as Assemblies of God. Call 701-751-4400 for more information.
