Emily Isabel Boyd, 87, died Aug. 17, 2011, in Las Vegas. Services were held in Las Vegas on Aug. 22, as well as in Orange County, Calif., on Aug. 23. She was buried at Mountain Ranch, Calif.
Isabel was born in McKenzie on March 19, 1924, to Randall and Charlotte (Leathers) Boyd. She was educated in Burleigh County and Bismarck schools, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1942. She took nurse’s training through the Cadet Nursing Corps program in World War II and went to California and worked in Orange County.
In 1958, she went to Korea as a christian missionary and spent most of her life there. She would return to the U.S. every five years for a home visit and in 2005, she chose to stay in the U.S. for health reasons. She spent her remaining years in California and Las Vegas continuing her missionary work there.
She is survived by one brother, Paul, Morgan Hill, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Norma Boyd, Bismarck.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Ross, David, Robert, Francis and Terry; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
