DiAnn Louise Lein, Bismarck, passed away on Sept. 22, 2012, after an 18-month battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Bismarck Funeral Home.
DiAnn was born Oct. 25, 1942, to Hazel and Albert Mindt in Goodrich. She grew up in Goodrich before her family moved to Bismarck before her senior year and then she graduated from BHS. She married Don Ehlis in 1961 and together, they had two children. She was then married to Dale Lein on April 8, 1986, until the time of her passing.
DiAnn worked at Basin Electric until her first retirement in 1995. She then returned to work a couple of years later at Touchmark (formerly the Waterford). She very much enjoyed the camaraderie with her co-workers and all the residents there until her health forced her to take her second retirement on June 17, 2011.
DiAnn loved bowling and softball and was involved in many different leagues over the years. She was also a huge Vikings and Twins fan and enjoyed going to many games in Minneapolis to watch them with her husband, Dale. She also enjoyed sewing, baking and spending time with her extended family.
DiAnn will be missed by everyone who knew her. If you met her you loved her, with her classy look and beautiful smile.
She is survived by her husband, “Chops” (Dale); her son, Dion, Plymouth, Minn.; her daughter, Tootie (Jim) Hatzenbuehler, Mandan; her stepson, Chad (Dara) Lein, Bismarck; her stepson, Nic Lein, Bismarck; her grandson, Hunter, Mandan; and her step-grandchildren, Dillon, Madison, Brayden and Easton Lein, Bismarck. Last but not least her very special puppy – Princess, who will be so lost without DiAnn.
She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; and her sister, Cora Lancaster.
