THUNDER BAY DOUBLES UP LARKS

Thunder Bay banged out 13 hits off four Bismarck Larks pitchers en route to an 8-4 Northwoods League victory on Thursday night.

The Larks had won the first two games of the series, being played in Canada. The final of the four-game set is tonight.

Tied 4-all, Thunder Bay scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bill Cook collected four hits for Thunder Bay, now 5-4 in the second half of the season.

The Larks, North Division first-half champions, fell to 2-7 in the second half. Wyatt Ulrich and Conner Bock combined four of Bismarck’s seven hits with two each.

REGIONAL TOURNEY SET FOR JULY 20-23

The Midwest Plains Babe Ruth 16-18-year-old tournament is scheduled for July 20-23 at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark.

The Bismarck Senators and Williston Oilers will represent. North Dakota. The Senators' first game is scheduled for p.m. on July 20 against Charleston, Mo.

Other teams in the tournament are St. Paul East Twins (Minn.), Scott County, Iowa, Kansas, Kennett, Mo., and the Buckley (Colo.) Bombers.

Tournament prices are: adults $10 per day or $25 tournament pass; students (ages 12-17) $6 daily or $15 tournament pass; youth (ages 11 and under) $4 daily or $10 tournament pass; kids two and under free; family tournament pass $75. 

Opening ceremonies will be at 5:30 p.m. on July 20. The tournament winner advances to the Babe Ruth World Series in Jamestown, N.Y., Aug. 4-11.

MEMORABILIA APPRAISER HERE JULY 16

Certified vintage sports card and memorabilia appraiser Michael Osacky will be in Bismarck on Monday, July 16.

The event is from 2-4 p.m. Osacky will provide free appraisals of cards and memorabilia from 1870-1970.
