Johnny Mindt — Boys Swimming and Diving
Johnny Mindt had a great month of January. Johnny showed his command of the board taking eight first-place finishes in the month, going undefeated. Johnny had six dual meets and two invites in January (dual meets are six-dive competitions and invites are 11-dive competitions). Starting at the Bismarck multi-dual at the Bismarck Aquatic Center Johnny dove to a 6-dive score of 309.50, setting a new Bismarck pool record and a new team record for the Braves, breaking Jordan Barth’s record of 294.75 points set in 2012. The score of 309.50 is also the highest six-dive score ever done in our state. In the next two dual meets he showed his consistency, diving to a 307.90 and a 307.55.
The West Fargo Invitational was where Johnny truly showed what he can do on the board. With 15 teams at the invite, Johnny took one dive at a time, showing his grace, control and difficulty level and receiving an 11-dive score of 517.15, a new pool record for West Fargo, new team record for the Braves (Johnny’s old record of 499.30 set in 2018). Johnny’s score of 517.15 is also the highest ever in the state, breaking the 509.80 set by Brady Coghlan of Fargo North in 2015 at the state championships. Johnny Mindt has truly continued to set the standard of excellence high for the Mandan diving program.
