Maryann Trauger, 79, Mandan, passed away May 17, 2019, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
A Mass of Christian burial was held May 22 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Burial was at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Maryann was born May 12, 1940, to James and Ann (Lorenz) Fairfield in Valley City. She was raised and educated in Valley City and attended Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D.
On August 10, 1963, Maryann married the love of her life, Paul Trauger.
Maryann served as secretary of the Bismarck Chief of Police for three years, followed by 35 years as data processing coordinator of the North Dakota Legislative Council. During this time, she also helped her husband, Paul, in raising quarter horses and Angus cattle. She retired in 2011 to focus on her family.
Maryann had a fondness for caring for flowers, roses being her favorite. She also collected many decorative dishware and Christmas memorabilia. She enjoyed reading romance novels and various home-centric magazines in her spare time.
Maryann will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 55 years, Paul; son, Jeff, Mandan; four grandchildren, Cole, PJ, Tawnie and Jasmine Trauger; one great-grandchild, Gabriel Myers; sister, Verna (Vern) Masterson, Greeley, Colo.; brothers, Mark (Carol), Fargo, and Dan (Rhonda), Valley City; sister-in-law, Jan Bond, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lynn Fairfield; and grandson, Frank.
