The Junior 4-H Livestock Judging Team from Morton County won the state livestock judging contest March 2 in Fargo. The team was second in beef and sheep, fourth in goats and first in swine and reasons.
The team members were Ty MacDonald, Medora Ellingson, Karsten Peterson, Grant Hauge, Justin Bonogofsky, Cecilia Marohl, Stran Ressler, Sophia Jochim, Cooper Strommen, Sheridan Ellingson, Stray Ressler and Aiden White.
Individually MacDonald placed first overall, eighth in beef, first in reasons and second in sheep and swine. Medora Ellingson was sixth overall, second in beef, sixth in goats, third in reasons. Peterson was seventh overall, seventh in goats and sixth in reasons, sheep and swine. Hauge placed 15th overall, 13th in beef. There were 117 contestants and 20 teams in the junior contest.
Senior participants for Morton County included Cassidy Strommen placing 49th and Clayton Marohl placing 50th. There were 64 contestants and 17 teams in the senior division.
The Morton teams are coached by Ben Tokach, St. Anthony, and Luke Keller, Jackie Buckley and Lucas Schmaltz, all of Mandan.
