Fair-goers from Minot and the surrounding areas dominated the leaderboards for most of the craft and food contests at the North Dakota State Fair last week. However, Mandan and Morton County had a strong showing at the needlework competition, and the following residents were awarded blue ribbons for their entries in the competition.

Michelle Ripplinger, of Mandan, took home three blue ribbons for afghans and bedspreads, one for crocheted wearing apparel and one for quilts.

Penny Wolf, of Mandan, hauled in a blue ribbon each for table coverings and quilts.

Marsha Papachek, of Mandan, was awarded a blue ribbon in the large pictures category.

Pamela Chase, of Hebron, brought in two blue ribbons from the senior citizen category, one for quilts and one for contests.

Claudia Meberg, of Hebron, took home a blue ribbon for quilts.
