Gov. Doug Burgum signed a proclamation designating Oct. 6-12 as National 4-H Week.

Nearly 24,000 North Dakota youth participate in 4-H programs that offer hands-on, real-life experiences through a variety of learning, including club, after-school, school enrichment and camping opportunities.

NDSU Extension/Morton County is planning opportunities to celebrate National 4-H Week, according to Extension Agent Karla Meikle's Sept. 4 newsletter.

Extension service also scheduled recognition night for 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Mandan Eagles to coincide with National 4-H Week. A dance will follow the festivities with music by Sam Peterson.
