Mandan med students receive 'white coat'

University of North Dakota medical students Mikaela Herberg and Justin Schafer, both of Mandan, will receive their first white coats in a ceremony at 5 p.m. today at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.

The white coat ceremony culminates orientation week for the Doctor of Medicine class of 2023 at UND.

Morton scores at ND State Fair beef show

The results from the beef show and junior beef show at the North Dakota State Fair are in, and several entrants from Morton County received awards for their prize cows.

In the Open Angus category, AJ Heins of New Salem received an award for champion female.

Ashton Boehm of Mandan received an award for reserve female in the Open Gelbvieh category.

In the Open Simmental Influence category, Taylor Miller of Mandan took home the champion female. Miller also took home fifth place in the Overall Heifer category at the junior beef show.

The champion Overall Heifer award went to Macey Miller of Mandan.  

Morton County places at ND State Fair goat show

The results are in from the North Dakota State Fair goat show, and there were several winners from Morton County.

Bridget Kunz of New Salem was named grand champion for both the breeding percentage does category and the breeding fullblood/purebred does category for Boer goats. Bridget was named overall grand champion.

Brooke Kunz of New Salem was named reserve champion for the breeding fullblood/purebred does category for Boer Goats.

For dairy goats, Justin Johnson of Mandan was named grand champion for does, and both grand champion and reserve grand champion for junior bucks under the Nubian goat category.
