A vendor has been selected to perform laboratory services for conducting compliance testing of marijuana and usable marijuana for the state's medical marijuana program.
The contract has been awarded to Keystone State Testing doing business as Dakota State Testing.
“The laboratory will conduct tests to ensure standards established in administrative rules are met prior to products being transferred to a dispensary,” said Jason Wahl, director of the Division of Medical Marijuana. “The tests performed will assist in providing assurance products dispensed to qualifying patients are safe.”
Tests will be conducted for pesticides, microbiological contaminants and mycotoxins, solvents, water activity and moisture content, as well as TCH and CBD concentration levels. Costs of tests performed will be paid by the manufacturing facilities.
Keystone has a laboratory in Pennsylvania that is certified and accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation. It also has received patient focused certification from Americans for Safe Access. The laboratory is anticipated to be in Fargo and is required by the state to be accredited.
