North Dakota farmers growing corn, soybeans or wheat, as well as dairy and pork producers, can now sign up for federal aid meant to mitigate market loss from stalled trade negotiations.

Producers who qualify can apply with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency once their harvest is complete for their share of direct payments from the Market Facilitation Program. The sign-up period runs through Jan. 15.

USDA will also begin to purchase up to $1.2 billion of certain commodities under a food purchase program administered by the Agricultural Marketing Service.
