Dwyer gets award
Mike Dwyer, executive vice president of the North Dakota Water Users Association and executive director of the Upper Missouri Water Association, was presented the Distinguished Service Award for North Dakota at the recent Upper Missouri Water Association annual conference.
Dwyer has served the North Dakota association since 1983 and the Upper Missouri Water Association since 1998. He is a partner in Dwyer Law Office, Bismarck and Fargo.
The North Dakota Center for Nursing has presented its fourth annual Legendary Nurse Awards for significant contributions to the nursing profession in North Dakota.
Recipients include Julie Klein, University of Mary, faculty achievement; Trisha Jungels, Jamestown Regional Medical Center, nurse executive; Alena Schweiger, Sanford Health, Bismarck, rising star; and Jean Roland, Quality Health Associates, Minot, evidence-based practice.
Kevin Bowen, Kevin Riley and Leslie Watson, employees at EMC Insurance Cos. in Bismarck, have been awarded property casualty underwriter professional designations by The Institutes after completing courses and national exams and meeting ethics and experience requirements.
Bowen has been with EMC since 2015, has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and holds an associate in general insurance, associate in risk management and associate in commercial underwriting designations.
Riley has been with EMC since 2014, has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and has the associate in general insurance and associate in commercial underwriting designations.
Watson, with EMC since 2009, has the associate in general insurance and associate in commercial underwriting designations.
Brown with Sanford
Dr. Karen Brown has joined Sanford Health, Bismarck.
A North Dakota native, she has 18 years of experience as a neonatologist in Bismarck.
Brown graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and completed a residency in pediatrics from the University of Hawaii Integrated Pediatric Residency Program in Honolulu. She is also fellowship-trained in neonatology.
Tod Graeber, administrator of CHI St. Alexius Health Garrison Memorial Hospital and Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital and director of the Transitional Care Unit in CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck, was awarded the Sister Boniface Timmins Award.
The award recognizes someone in leadership who emulates the qualities of servant leadership modeled by Timmins, administrator of CHI St. Alexius Health for nearly 40 years.
Robert V. Bolinske Jr. has been recognized by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys as a 2018 10 Best High Verdict & Settlement Attorney for Personal Injury in North Dakota.

Tescher with NDIRF
Jeff Tescher has joined the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund as underwriting manager.
Tescher holds an undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota and has earned associate in general insurance and associate in commercial underwriting designations from The Institutes.
