A leak caused about 245 barrels, or 10,290 gallons, of brine to spill Wednesday at an oil and gas well in Williams County, according to the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division.

Oasis Petroleum reported the incident was caused by a valve or piping connection leak at a well about 7 miles southeast of Williston. The brine was contained on the well pad and cleanup is underway, regulators said.

A state inspector has been to the site and will monitor additional cleanup.
