Defense held sway Sunday as the University of Mary and MSU-Moorhead played to a 0-0 women's soccer standoff.
The 110 minutes of scoreless action on the Bismarck State College campus included just five shots on net, all by U-Mary. The host Marauders launched 12 total shots to five by the Dragons.
U-Mary had a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks, but weren't able to turn those opportunities into significant threats on MSUM goalkeeper Kayleigh Sedlacek. Near the middle of the first half, the Marauders had five corner kicks in three minutes, but managed only one shot on net. Sedlacek made a save on Mary Vigneri.
Madisyn Waltman notched her third shutout of the season and the 11th of her career without a save.
The Marauders, now 0-0-1 in Northern Sun action and 2-0-1 overall, plays again on Friday at Augustana. Moorhead stands 1-0-1 in the NSIC and 3-0-2 overall.
