Bismarck’s Veterans Organizations
will hold Veterans Day Observances on

Sunday, November 11th at 10:00 a.m.

at the Heritage Center, Russell Reid Auditorium
The Bismarck Veterans Service
organizations will hold their annual
Veterans Day observance on Monday,
November 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the North
Dakota Heritage Center, Russell Reid
Auditorium. The Master of Ceremonies
is Janette Fetch, Commander of the
American Legion Loyd Spetz Post No. 1.
The speaker will be Larry Young, Vice
President of the North Dakota Vietnam
Veterans of America.
Larry Young was raised on his family’s
farm in Rolette County. He graduated
from Rolette High School in 1968. He
joined the United States Army and
served in South Vietnam in I Corps from
October 1969 to 1970. He was a member
of Delta Company 4th/3rd Infantry 11th
Brigade of the 23rd Infantry Division
commonly known as the Americal
Division. Young was a rifleman and RTO
radio operator. He was awarded the
Combat Infantryman Badge and a Bronze

Star. After his active duty he graduated
from Mayville State College. His work
career involved agricultural sales for 25
years selling Case IH equipment. Young
has always been involved in his church
and community, presently serving as
a Traill County Commissioner. He is
state vice president of the North Dakota
Vietnam Veterans of America. He serves
on the North Dakota Veterans Legislative
Council. He also works with the Traill
County Veterans Service Officer as an
Veterans Day Speaker

Larry Young, Vice President of the
North Dakota Vietnam Veterans of America

advocate for veterans. Young is a member
of the American Legion, the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, and the Canadian Vietnam
Veterans. He and Diane have been
married for 46 years. They have two
children and four grandchildren.
Following the ceremony, weather
permitting, we will adjourn to the North
Dakota All Veterans Memorial, south
of the Heritage Center. The monument
is constructed so that at 11:00 AM on
November 11th each year the sun will
shine through an aperture and light up
the state of North Dakota as positioned
on a globe in the center of the memorial.
Refreshments will be served by the
American Legion Auxiliary before and
after the ceremony. In the afternoon
AMVETS Post No. 9 at their club at 2402
Railroad Avenue will hold a program at
2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dale Nabben as the
speaker. The program will be followed by
a free meal.
