10 YEARS AGO (2007): What a difference a year can make. Last year, Bismarck’s Grant Bakke was overwhelmed by Minot’s Josh Oothoudt 6-1, 6-1 in the West Region boys tennis tournament final. The two met again with a regional championship on the line. This time, Bakke turned the tables, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at the Capital Racquet and Fitness Center to capture his first regional crown.

20 YEARS AGO (1997): Justin Baggenstoss scored a goal and picked up two assists to lead Century past Shiloh Christian in high school soccer. Century jumped to a 3-0 halftime lead and outshot the Skyhawks 18-12.

50 YEARS AGO (1967): Napoleon demolished Strasburg in a South Central Conference football game played in Strasburg. Eight players figured in the Napoleon scoring spree. Scoring touchdowns were Paul Scherr, Harland Brunner, Mark Sperle, Dick Weigel, Jerry Starkey and Ron Horner.
