FROM 1D: Halfback Beattie Feathers of the Chicago Bears became the NFL’s first 1,000-yard rusher in his rookie season of 1934. Feathers carried the ball 119 times for 1,004 yards in 11 games. He never  exceeded 350 yards again.


10 YEARS AGO (2003):   Dan Montplaisir scored a goal and added two assists and Kelsey Opp added two goals to lead Mandan to a West Region soccer victory over Jamestown.

Darin Helbling had 14 saves in a 4-1 Braves victory.

20 YEARS AGO (1993): Kevin Feeney ran for one touchdown and threw for another as Bismarck posted a 14-0 victory over Fargo South, the defending state Class A football champion.
