The University of Mary men's basketball team added a pair of local players during the NCAA early signing period.
Josh Sipes and Kade Amundson of Century have signed with the Marauders.
Sipes, a 6-foot-3 guard, was ranked as the top prospect in the state according to PrepHoops.com. As a junior, Sipes averaged 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals for the Patriots.
Sipes has deep ties to U-Mary. His grandfather taught accounting at the school. He is the son of Dan and Tammy Sipes. Dan attended U-Mary.
Sipes, a member of the National Honor Society, plans to study nursing.
Amundson, who also will study nursing at U-Mary, averaged 8 points, 6 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal per game in helping the Patriots to a 22-5 record last season.
The 6-6 Amundson was second in the West Region in blocked shots. He is the son of Angela Twardoski and Ben Amundson.
Bailee Otterness of Century has signed with the Bismarck State Volleyball team.
Otterness, a 6-0 middle hitter, also plays basketball for the Patriots.
She is the daughter of Cary and Trish Otterness and is a member of the National Honor Society.
BSC infielder Spencer Gillund has signed with North Dakota State.
Gillund, originally from Enderlin, N.D., was named a third-team All-American for the Mystics last season. He posted monster offensive numbers as a freshman, including a .410 batting average to go with 13 home runs, 11 doubles, three triples and 53 RBIs.
