No. 6-seeded Solen edged No. 3 Standing Rock 53-52 Friday night at the Shiloh Christian School gymnasium to earn a place in tonight's semifinal round of the District 9 girls basketball tournament.

Astacia Conica and Josie White Eagle scored 18 and 12 points, respectively, for the Sioux, who led 25-24 at halftime and 39-34 at the end of the third quarter. Conica tallied 17 of the 31 points Solen scored in the second and third quarters.

Standing Rock's Keisha Bailey was outstanding in defeat, scoring a game-high 29 points. She netted nine field goals, including six 3-pointers, and went 5-for-7 from the charity stripe.

The Sioux will take on No. 1-ranked and unbeaten Shiloh Christian (19-0) tonight in the first semifinal game, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

In Friday's other opening-round game, No. 4 Flasher downed No. 5 New Salem-Almont 59-49.

Emma Marion scored 15 of her 21 points in the second half for the Bulldogs, who carried a 40-33 lead into the final eight minutes. Tymber Boldt and Faith Marion added 17 and 13 points, respectively.

Brenna Hoger led the Holsteins with 22 -- 18 in the second half.

Flasher will play No. 2 Grant County in tonight's late semifinal contest.

In District 10 tournament action at Underwood on Friday, Underwood downed Center-Stanton 56-29 and Wilton-Wing outlasted Garrison 51-47 to advance to tonight's championship game.

Taysha Snyder and Mackenzie Snyder netted 19 and 18 points, respectively, for No. 1-seeded Underwood, which led 36-15 at halftime.

Kori Nagel led the Wildcats with six points.

Lauren Koski's 25 points powered Wilton-Wing to its semifinal victory. Koski scored 12 points in the first half and 13 in the second. She connected on nine shots from the floor and went 7-for-9 from the free-throw line. 

Garrison had three players scoring in double figures -- Shelby Gehring 14, Kaitlyn Klein 10 and Katherine Fox 10.

In loser-out play, Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky downed Max 57-42, getting 20 points from Brooke Goven and 17 from Morgan Reiser. Hope Scheresky netted 20 points for the Cossacks.

Today's Region 5 qualifier games will pit TLMM against Center-Stanton, and Garrison against Washburn.
