Brandon Schroeder rolled up 219 yards on 14 touches and recorded 13.5 tackles to lead the New Salem-Almont-Glen Ullin Holsteins to a 42-22 victory over Divide County in a second-round 9-man football playoff game Saturday afternoon.
Schroeder carried 12 times for 106 yards and caught two passes for another 113. He scored one touchdown rushing and two receiving.
Braden Zuroff rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns for the Holsteins, who improved to 9-0. NSAGU will host North Prairie Saturday in a quarterfinal game. North Prairie (8-1) outlasted Mott-Regent-New England 64-62 in a second-round game. The Cougars scored the winning touchdown on a 30-yard pass from Gabe Leonard to Austin Soukup late in the fourth quarter after Josh Wallace gave the Wildfire a 62-58 lead with a 30-yard scoring run.
Wallace closed out a stellar high school career with 327 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Austin Soukup, Gabe Leonard and Grant Munro rushed for 129, 126 and 124 yards, respectively, for North Prairie. Soukup also passed for 165 yards.
At Napoleon, Jamison Fettig and Nathan Weigel rushed for 169 and 152 yards, respectively, as Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter edged Hankinson 21-14. All 35 points were scored in the first half.
Weigel tallied on runs of 51, 5 and 35 yards for the Imperials, who will face No. 1-ranked Cavalier in Cavalier on Saturday. Both teams are 9-0.
Cavalier ousted defending state champion Thompson 58-20 on Saturday.
In other 9-man games, Beach defeated Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 32-12, Wyndmere-Lidgerwood downed New Rockford-Sheyenne 56-16, and Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg topped Nelson County 38-8.
In Class A playoff action, Hayden Schmitz threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Shipman with 1:07 remaining in the game to give the Carrington Cardinals a 20-14 first-round victory over Fargo Oak Grove.
Drew Page carried 15 times for 113 yards for the Cardinals (8-1), who will take on No. 1-ranked Hillsboro-Central Valley in Saturday's quarterfinals. Hillsboro-CV (9-0) advanced with a 39-8 victory over Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn.
Defending state champion Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm rolled past Harvey-Wells County 49-24. Clayton Grueneich scored five touchdowns.
Ellendale-EK (8-1) will face unbeaten Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich (9-0) in the quarterfinals. Langdon Area-EM blanked Kindred 31-0 in the first round.
Also in Class A, Dickinson Trinity (7-1) defeated Stanley 47-6, and Des Lacs-Burlington (8-1) shut out Killdeer 22-0. Those two teams will meet in the quarterfinals.
