Eight wrestlers from Bismarck and one from Mandan will wrestle for titles today at the Bismarck Rotary tournament.
Bismarck High piled up 163.5 points to lead the 30-team field after the first day. The Demons placed five wrestlers in the finals. Bismarck holds a 10-point lead over Rapid City Stevens (S.D.).
At 145 pounds, unbeaten senior Devin Steidler will take his 26-0 record into a showdown with once-beaten Michael Lusk of Pierre Riggs (S.D.).
Ryan Ripplinger will go for the title at 126. The BHS junior edged Drew Steidler of St. Mary's 8-7 in the semifinals. Ripplinger gets Christian Dean of Sidney, Mont., in the final.
Laken Boese advanced to the 120-pound final with a 5-0 win over Mandan's Will Kleinknecht at 120. Boese faces 18-0 Lincoln Turman of Pierre Rigs for all the marbles.
Parker Wahl and Chase Dockter also advanced for the Demons.
Wahl faces Kolby Kost of Rapid City Central in the 171-pound final. At 220, Dockter squares off with Hunter Swartwout of Minot.
Two Legacy wrestlers made it all the way through.
At 195, Matthew Kaylor pushed his season record to 37-2 with four wins.
Also, eighth-grader Chance Davis sailed into the 138-pound title tilt against seniors JJ Harms of West Fargo.
Reese Barnhardt of St. Mary's looks for his 40th win of the season against Chase DeBlaere of West Fargo Sheyenne in the 113-pound championship.
In the 152-pound final, Mandan's Isaac Berger squares off with Napoleon standout Garrett Jangula, who has not lost this season in 24 matches.
The finals are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at the Bismarck Events Center.
