Bismarck vs. Century

Records: Bismarck and Century shared a West Region championship with Mandan at 5-1. Bismarck topped the final Class AAA statewide poll with Century second and Mandan third. Century has won seven consecutive games since losing to Bismarck 27-19 in the fourth week of the season. Bismarck dropped a 20-19 decision to Mandan in the seventh week of the season and has since run off four consecutive victories.

Playoff road: Bismarck overpowered Fargo Davies 49-14 in the quarterfinals and squeaked out a 32-30 victory over third-ranked Mandan in the semifinals. Century topped Fargo South 21-7 in the quarterfinals and edged fourth-ranked Minot 14-13 in the semifinals.

Coaches: Bismarck - Mark Gibson, 13th season, 120-29. Century - Ron Wingenbach, 22nd season, 130-93.

Rankings: Region 3 champion Stanley-PL was ranked No. 3 in the final Class A poll. Region 1 champion Linton-HMB was ranked No. 4 in the final poll. The Lions have won 10 straight games since dropping their season-opener, 26-12 to Mobridge-Pollock, S.D.

Playoff road: Stanley-PL defeated Killdeer 20-0 in the first round, No. 5 Heart River 35-0 in the quarterfinals, and No. 2 Hazen 28-27 in the semifinals. Linton-HMB defeated Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn 18-8 in the first round, Milnor-North Sargent 28-14 in the quarterfinals, and Maple Valley-Enderlin 21-20 in the semifinals. Linton-HMB rallied from a 20-0 halftime deficit to defeat MV-E.

Notes: Stanley-PL is in the state championship game for the first time since 2002. The Blue Jays defeated Carrington that year for their second state title. Linton-HMB is in the state championship game for the first time since 2008, and the 12th time overall. The Lions won state championships in 1980 (9-man), 1990 (Class B 11-man), 2000 (9-man), 2002 (9-man) and 2003 (9-man). ... Linton-HMB lost starting quarterback Tanner Purintun to a knee injury early in their semifinal game against Maple Valley-Enderlin. Purintun had completed 88 of 161 passes for 1,388 yards and 14 TDs. He also rushed for 497 yards and eight TDs. Jayden Gross will start at quarterback on Friday.

Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter vs. North Star

Records: Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter 11-1, North Star 11-1

Rankings: Region 1 co-champion Napoleon-GS was ranked No. 2 in the final 9-man poll. The Imperials have won four straight games since their only loss, 6-0 to Hankinson. Region 3 co-champion North Star was ranked No. 5 in the final poll. The Bearcats lost their regular-season finale to Benson County, but are 3-0 in the playoffs.

Playoff road: Napoleon-GS defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne 48-18 in the first round, North Border 42-18 in the quarterfinals, and Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 20-14 in the semifinals. North Border downed Shiloh Christian 36-6 in the first round, Central McLean 24-22 in the quarterfinals, and third-ranked Divide County 32-28 in the semifinals.

Rankings: East Region champion Grafton was ranked No. 1 in the final Class AA poll. Shanley, the second seed from the East, was ranked fourth in the final poll. The Deacons have won three straight, and six of seven since losing to Grafton 48-14 on Sept. 9.

Playoff road: Grafton defeated Beulah 42-0 in the quarterfinals, and Wahpeton 20-8 in the semifinals. Shanley downed Minot Ryan 42-12 in the quarterfinals, and Kindred 30-8 in the semifinals.

Coaches: Grafton - Tom Maus, sixth year, 34-24. Shanley - Rod Oksendahl, first year at Shanley.
