HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING
Briana Rittenbach and Vanessa Herrmann collected two first-place finishes each to pace Century at the Maroon and Gold Invite on Saturday at the University of Minnesota.
Rittenbach and Herrmann swam the first two legs of the Patriots' winning 200-yard medley relay team. Carly Palmer and Lexi Duchsherer rounded out the victorious quartet's time of 1:49.71.
Individually, Rittenbach won the backstroke by over two seconds, touching first in a time of 57.55. She was also third in the 100 free (53.34).
The Patriots scored big in the 100 breaststroke as Herrmann won in a time of 1:06.29. Palmer (1:07.82) was third to the line and Andrea Frank (1:12.07) ninth.
Century, which finished fourth with 276 points against seven top Minnesota schools, was also third in the 200 free relay as Rittenbach, Paige Keller, Palmer and Duchsherer teamed for a time of 1:41.49.
Other top 10 swims belonged to Duchsherer (4th, 50 free, 25.0; 6th, 100 free, 54.88); Herrmann (4th, 200 individual medley, 2:08.87) and Palmer (4th, 200 free, 1:57.97).
Edina (697) won the meet. Minnetonka (418) and Stillwater (327) placed second and third, respectively.
