The West Region basketball tournament begins today at the Bismarck Events Center.

Century is the top seed in both tournaments. Both Patriot teams are ranked No. 1 in the state.

The Century boys have won 15 games in a row, while the Patriots girls are 20-1 overall.

St. Mary's, the lone team to beat Century, is the No. 2 seed in the girls' tournament, while Bismarck High trails only Century on the boys' side.

Mandan is the No. 3 seed in both tournaments. The Braves have the regular-season scoring leader on the girls side in Megan Zander (20.1). Trae Steckler, of Mandan, finished No. 2 (20.3 ppg) behind Turtle Mountain's Julian Parisien (23.9 ppg) among boys.

The quarterfinals of the girls tournament begin at 2 p.m., and will be played at Exhibit Hall. The boys quarters open at 3 on the main floor.
