UTTC ADDS TO ITS ROSTER
Kristin Bearstail will play for her dad, Daryl, at United Tribes this coming season.
Kristin, a 5-foot-6 guard, has transferred from Williston State to United Tribes. Bearstail averaged 14.3 points a game this past season for WSC, including 104 3-pointers.
"Kristin was happy at Williston," Daryl said. "She loved her team, coach and everything about the school. She decided she wanted to play for me. She missed Bismarck and wanted to get back to Bismarck. I wasn't going to discourage her. It was her decision."
United Tribes picked up two transfers. Nicole Wells from New Town has transferred from Lake Region State. Charliandra Largo of Mescalero, N.M., has transferred from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Wells is a 5-8 guard who averaged 8.6 points a game. She dished out 118 assists and committed just 70 turnovers.
Charlee Fox of White Shield, a 5-10 forward, made a verbal commitment. Fox is a member of the Army Reserve.
BOTTINEAUGUARDHEADSTONDSU
FARGO (AP) - Bottineau guard Kelsey Peltier is planning to play basketball at North Dakota State. It would make her NDSU's first freshman woman recruit from the state in seven years.
As a junior last year, the 5-foot-7 Peltier averaged 10 points and almost four rebounds a game for Bottineau, which won three state Class B championships before its 51-game winning streak was snapped last March by Kenmare.
Peltier, who has given a verbal commitment to North Dakota State, is expected to sign a letter of intent in November.
Bottineau's star was Shaunna Knife, who averaged 19 points and signed with the University of Mary. Bottineau head coach Mike Forsberg said Peltier's performance at NDSU summer camps likely increased her stock.
Her father, Danny, played at the University of North Dakota for two years. Her mother, Candace, is a former standout high school player and assistant coach.
