WIZARDS HIRE SCHROEDER
Bismarck native Scott Schroeder has been hired as the new director of media and public relations for the Dakota Wizards.
Schroeder takes over for Mike Offerdahl, who resigned last week after three seasons in the position.
Schroeder is a graduate of Century High School and Bemidji State University, where he majored in sports management and minored in journalism.
Schroeder, who was the director of basketball operations for the CBA's Minot Skyrockets last season, formerly worked for the Wizards as an intern.

DAC allows Minot to compete
BISMARCK (AP) - Presidents of the Dakota Athletic Conference have decided Minot State University can compete for postseason tournaments and awards while it's exploring a jump from the NAIA to NCAA Division II.
Athletic directors had recommended that any school being considered for membership in another league outside the NAIA be required to forfeit its eligibility for titles and awards.
DAC Commissioner Lavern Jessen says the league constitution has no language covering that situation. He says Minot will be a full member for the next two years, or until the school sends a letter announcing it will withdraw from the DAC.
The league meeting was Tuesday in Bismarck. The other DAC schools are Dickinson State, Jamestown, Mayville State, Valley City State, Black Hills State, Dakota State and South Dakota Tech.

CLASS B BOYS BASKETBALL
MAY-PORT-CG HIRES FORMER UND WOMEN'SSTANDOUT
MAYVILLE (AP) - A prominent high school boys basketball program in North Dakota has a new coach.
Former University of North Dakota standout Katie Richards Judisch is the new coach at Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg.
Judisch is not the first female to be in charge of a boys high school basketball program in North Dakota, but it does not happen often. Judisch says she knows the team will be "a curiosity."
Success has followed Judisch. She helped the Fighting Sioux win three NCAA Division II national championships. The May-Port-CG boys team also has had success, winning state Class B titles in 1996, 1997, 2002 and 2003, and finishing as the runner-up in 2006.

Dennis Samuels of Beulah, Wayne Hogan of Jamestown, and Cory Anderson of Valley City will be inducted into the North Dakota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame Saturday at Jamestown.
Samuels, 57, is in his 50th year of organized baseball. He started playing amateur baseball with Fargo Paint & Glass 37 years ago, and has been a long-time member of the Beulah Blackjaws. He helped lead the Blackjaws to state championships in 2003 and 2005.
Hogan was 19 when he started playing amateur baseball with the Jamestown Elks in 1981. He accumulated 975 hits, 155 home runs, and 680 runs batted in. His career batting average is .400. Hogan also posted 70-plus victories on the mound, and played on 13 state championship teams. He's a two-time state tournament most valuable player.
Anderson, who started playing amateur baseball in 1983, is a three-time state tournament MVP and a member of 13 championship teams. He played with Tolna, the Jamestown Elks, and the Chillers. His career totals include a .342 batting average and a 204-57 pitching mark.
The induction will be held at the Buffalo City Grille, beginning at 7 p.m. A social will begin at 6 p.m.
