10 years ago (1999): The Bowman County American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader from Beulah.
Bowman County won the first game 12-8 behind Tony Nagel and took the second game 7-2 behind Sean Arithson and Steve Ranum.
For Bowman County at the plate in the first game, Luke Tibor hit a three-run triple and Darby Feist was 3-for-3 with a double, while Bobby Nasset and Ranum each hit a double.
For Beulah, Lucas Jelleberg was 2-for-5 with a home run and three runs batted in, while Cordell Weidner was 2-for-4. Casey McGlocklin finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, while John Lausen finished 3-for-4.
In the second game at the plate for Bowman County, Tibor hit another triple and Chris Schmidt collected a two-run single.
For Beulah, Nick Anderson was 3-for-4 and Weidner went 2-for-4 with a double.
20 years ago (1989): Duane Sandvick says he's ready for another year of being a member of Team USA.
The Bismarck bowler, who earned a spot on the prestigious team in 1986, will be among 21 competitors - 12 men and nine women - in the Region 4 Team USA Tournament at Midway Lanes.
Sandvick and Russ Meyer of Wahpeton are the two North Dakota entires in the men's competition. The only North Dakota women entered is Jennifer Jones of Argusville, who bowls in Fargo.
Three members of the Bismarck-Mandan Women's Bowling Association will bowl along with thre regional entrants. They include Sheila McClenathan, Irene Merck and Irene Storick.
50 years ago (1959): Bismarck has had its string of champions in the North Dakota State Amateur Golf Tournament.
Paul Cook of Bismarck won it four years in a row, 1929-1932, and came back to win it again in 1934.
Paul O'Leary won it three times in succession, 1946-1948.
Dickinson winners have been John Reuter Jr. (1915, '16, '18, '19), Guy Hunter (1917) and Bill Kostelecky (1937).
