HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

BISMARCK, WAHPETON HOLD DOWN TOP SPOTS IN POLLS

Bismarck and Wahpeton remained unanimous choices in Class AAA and AA, respectively in this week's high school football polls.

The only change in AAA was Minot slipping past West Fargo into the fourth spot. Century remains ranked third.

The top four teams stayed the same in AA, including Dickinson Trinity at No. 2. Lisbon moved back into the fifth slot.

The polls are conducted by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

UND'S HAWKINS HONORED

University of North Dakota's Dominique Hawkins was named defensive player of the week in the Great West.

With 30 seconds left before halftime, the sophomore defensive back returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown, breaking a 7-7 tie and swinging the momentum in North Dakota's victory.

The interception was Hawkins' second of the season - both resulting in touchowns - and the third of his career.

He finished with six tackles (five solo) and one pass breakup.

Dickinson State's Cody Holland was named offensive player of the week in the DAC.

The junior quarterback was 12 of 17 passing for 204 yards with two touchdowns and one interception and picked up 32 yards rushing on ten carries as the Blue Hawks topped 23rd-ranked Black Hills State.

Northern Outlaw Wrestling has a show scheduled for 7p.m. Thursday at the AMVETS Club.

The main event will feature The Patriot III. Also scheduled to appear on the card are Dirty Ernie and Arik Cannon from MTV's Wrestling Society X.
