KNUTSON THIRD IN 400 IM
INDIANAPOLIS Dagny Knutson of Minot placed third in the 400 individual medley at the U.S. Nationals on Thursday.
Knutson clocked a time of 4:38.37.
Elizabeth Beisel qualified for her first world championships at 16 with a victory in the event in a time of 4:36.31. Julia Smit, already on the U.S. team, was second.
Knutson has one more chance at making the world championships in the 100 free.

BORTKE COURT, HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS
The University of Mary will dedicate its basketball court after former men's basketball coach and athletic director Al Bortke on July 18.
The school will also induct Paul Cronin, Neil MacDannald and Tim Garcia into the Marauders Hall of Fame on the same day as part of the university's 50th anniversary all-school reunion.
"Bortke Court" will be dedicated at 2 p.m. on the basketball floor in the McDowell Activity Center. The public is invited to attend.
Cronin (1994-95), MacDannald (1995-96) and Garcia (2002-03) all starred on the gridiron for U-Mary. The Hall of Fame luncheon will be held prior to the Bortke Court dedication.
Cronin, a quarterback, led U-Mary to the NAIA semifinals for the first time in 1995. He set Marauders single season records with 2,933 yards passing and 32 touchdowns.
Cronin threw for 4,970 yards and 55 touchdowns in just two seasons and is third all-time in Marauders history in both categories.
MacDannald, a wide receiver, was an NAIA All-American. As a senior, he caught 79 passes for 1,202 yards, which still remains a school record.
His most spectacular game of the season came in a 35-0 win at Mayville State where he gained 254 yards receiving and caught three touchdown passes to set single-game school records.
For his career, MacDannald caught 132 passes for 2,020 yards, both marks third all-time in Marauders history. He is fifth in receiving touchdowns with 18.
Garcia led the Marauders to 19 wins and two NAIA playoff appearances in his two seasons at U-Mary. His win total ties the Marauders mark for most wins over a two-year period.
As a junior, Garcia threw for 2,629 yards, the second-best mark in school history, while completing 181 of 309 passes, and 29 touchdowns and five interceptions.
His signature game of the season came in a 40-34 win over Valley City State where he set school-records with 473 yards passing and six touchdowns.
As a senior, Garcia again threw 29 touchdown passes, completing 193 passes out of 300 attempts for 2,525 yards with just six interceptions.
For his career, Garcia threw for 5,154 yards and 58 touchdowns to land him second all-time in Marauders history while guiding U-Mary to a combined record of 19-4.

KAMRATH, SCHROEDER EARn HONOR
Mike Kamrath of Washburn and Henry Schroeder of Mandan were named the assistant coaches of the year by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association.
Kamrath, who won the award for the fall season, is an assistant football coach. He coaches the wide receivers/slot backs, defensive backs and calls the special teams.
Schroeder, the winter recipient, is an assistant for the boys basketball team. He helps set up the practice schedule, prepares the gym, supervises the weightlifting as well as many other duties.
The spring season award went to Phil Martin of Lisbon, a boys track and field assistant.
Dan Carlson of Grand Forks Valley Middle School was the named the junior high coach of the year. He's a football coach.
