Class A, 9-man polls

Cavalier heads into the postseason ranked No. 1 in the 2017 season's final 9-man football poll, conducted by the North Dakota Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

The Tornadoes, 8-0, collected 11 of the 16 first-place votes. Four first-place votes went to No. 2 Wyndmere-Lidgerwood (8-0), and one to No. 3 New Salem-Almont-Glen Ullin (8-0), which was ranked No. 5 last week. Thompson (6-2) and Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter (8-0) round out the top five. Shiloh Christian (7-1), No. 3 last week, received votes.

Hillsboro-Central Valley (7-0), a 48-28 winner over last week's No. 1-ranked team, Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm, last Friday night, tops the Class A poll. The Burros received 13 first-place votes, and No. 2 Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich (7-0) garnered four. Velva (7-0) and Ellendale-EK (6-1) are tied for the No. 3 spot, and Dickinson Trinity (5-1) is No. 5.
