I would like to know why the residents of Lincoln were not willing to offer $20 annually in property taxes to keep the paratransit bus service running for elderly and disabled residents to get to jobs, doctor appointments and other necessary trips away from home.
Is there something wrong with the service that makes it a bad investment? Or is there some other logical reason for the rejection? I really would like to know. Otherwise, I really don't want to think that we have to be reminded to "walk in someone else's shoes." I realize of course that there are many needs out there, but this subject stood out given the very minimal cost and that the service keeps some of those riders contributing to the community and supporting themselves by having jobs.
One day many of us may view a paratransit service as our own lifeline. Please do what is needed to keep it running.
