I am writing to commend Tamara Uselman on the good work she did as superintendent of Bismarck Public Schools.
Uselman did the hard, but necessary, work of reorganizing Bismarck Public School boundaries. Under her leadership, the community passed two bond issues that resulted in a new high school, two new elementary schools and additions to existing schools.
We are a Highland Acres family, and we would have had children affected by the proposed closing of Highland Acres Elementary. When I contacted Uselman with my concerns, she responded with an offer to meet for coffee to discuss concerns in person.
I have a great deal of respect for Uselman and feel she has done good work. Superintendent is a thankless job. Even when you're doing excellent work, you always have some stakeholders unhappy. Uselman has served Bismarck well in her seven years as superintendent.
