Thank you, Sam McQuade, for revealing that Sen. John Hoeven once said that he was all about "Team Republican.” (McQuade letter, Dec. 15) Be careful, Sen. Hoeven, for whom you are a good ole boy.
Your "team" supported Roy Moore for the Senate, has embarked on a smear campaign against the FBI and our country's rule of law, and signed a tax "reform" bill that gives more wealth to the rich and a lump of coal to the middle class and poor whose temporary tax relief ends in 2027.
As for the leaping deficit, there isn't a credible economist that says the tax cuts and presumed economic growth will pay for that. Instead, the interest we pay on the deficit is a gift to China, one of the largest investors in our Treasury bonds, as they build their infrastructure, schools and military might with our dollars.
Next? Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare will be on the chopping block for more "reform" per Speaker Paul Ryan. Also at risk are other programs yet undisclosed on the "team’s" list. This doesn't have to happen. Where are our voices?
The senator, sadly, reminds me of "Little Jack Horner ... eating his Christmas pie. He stuck in his thumb and pulled out a plum, and said 'What a good boy am I.’" Only this time the plum is poison.
