I am deeply disappointed in Gov. Doug Burgum and the state of North Dakota for what they have done with this Workforce Development and HR Conference. First and foremost, I am extremely ashamed that the state would sponsor such an event that will ultimately pit employers against the hard-working people of North Dakota.
The state, as well as the governor's office, should hold a neutral position in employer/employee relationships. To have presenters that pride themselves in busting unions and oppressing the working class is a disgrace to the blue-collar men and women of North Dakota who work hard to provide for their families.
A state entity should not be spending hard-earned tax dollars to ultimately protect employers from having their workforce organize or join a union.
Although the state will say that they have spent no money on this conference, I find this very hard to believe. It saddens me to know that Burgum would sign on to stand against the very people who elected him to office and to support corporations that are willing to pay poverty wages and minimal benefits to their employees for the sake of their own benefit.
