In today’s economy there is a lot of pressure to cover rising health care premiums. On top of health insurance, prescription drug costs are increasingly difficult to cover.
That’s why I’m grateful to see the United States Senate addressing prescription costs with a bill, S974, the Creating and Restoring Equal Access to Equivalent Samples (CREATES) Act.
This bill will close a loophole used by some prescription drug companies to block less-expensive generic medications from entering the market, thereby allowing more generic drugs to come online.
Generic drugs are often lower in cost and more affordable for those who rely heavily on prescription medications. The CREATES Act will help bring more choice to the market, while still ensuring public health and safety.
I urge Sen. John Hoeven and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp to support this legislation, for the health of our seniors and families all across North Dakota.
